Denise is a student in the Joint Doctoral Program in Political Science and Health Services, Organization, and Policy. Prior to U of M, she conducted health services research at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and worked on management projects for clients in the nonprofit and public sectors as a research associate at TCC Group. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director of the National Bone Marrow Transplant Link, a patient education and advocacy nonprofit.
Denise’s research interests include regulatory politics, with a particular focus on state-level regulation of health professionals, and state health policy formation. Additionally, she has developed an interest in the health care safety net, having volunteered and served on the board of a local free clinic for several years. She is currently a co-chair of the Political Science Women’s Caucus, a coordinator of WIDTH (the doctoral workshop in the Department of Health Management and Policy), and an advisory board member of Detroit Passport to the Arts.
