Kerri is a PhD candidate in the Joint Program in Social Work and Political Science. She is interested in the politics of U.S. poverty, including public opinion about poverty and how the dominant political discourse about poverty and anti-poverty policies relates to the thoughts and actions of those actually living in poverty. Her dissertation research explores how single mothers living in poverty make decisions regarding participation in public anti-poverty programs for which they are eligible, focusing specifically on the impact that dominant public attitudes might have on these decisions.
