Doctoral StudentPolitical Theory
Ben is a Ph.D. candidate in political theory. His interests include the role of rhetoric in political discourse and different concepts of membership in political community, particularly in the context of classical political thought. His current work focuses on communities that emerge around the playing of games and how they provide for a conceptually similar experience to the political life of the Greek polis. He also has pedagogical interests in how the mechanisms of games can be applied to the structure of coursework – often referred to as “gamification” – in order to promote student engagement and autonomy.
