Doctoral StudentComparative Politics
Albana’s research interests include political institutions and party behavior in developing democracies, particularly of the Eastern European region. Within this framework, her research focuses on the ways in which political institutions of the newly developed democracies impact not only party strategies and policy formation, but also the prospects for European accession and democratic consolidation. Outside this dimension, Albana’s research interests encompass clientelist politics and the influence of European Union regulations on the shaping and reconfiguration of national and ethnic identities across the Eastern and particularly Southern European states.
Her current research considers the ways in which the amalgamation of pre- and post-socialist factors influence the nature of distributive policies adopted by the incumbent parties of the developing democratic states of Eastern Europe.
