Serban is interested in understanding the effects of demographic shifts on politics, at both the national and international level. His most recent work on fertility lies at the intersection of demographics, religion and political science. Recognizing the importance of understanding values as fundamental drivers of behavior, he has worked for several years on the World Values Survey with Professor Ron Inglehart. Other areas of interest are international security, political science methods, and applications of neuroscience in political science.
