    Michael Traugott is Professor of Communication Studies and Political Science and a Senior Research Scientist in the Center for Political Studies at the Institute for Social Research. His primary research interests include political communication, campaigns and elections, and the use of polls to make news. He is the author or co-author of 12 books and more than 100 journal articles or book chapters. He has been the president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR), and he is currently the president of the Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research (MAPOR). In 2010 he received the AAPOR Award for Distinguished Lifetime Achievement. He is currently working on a project that investigates the data quality in the kinds of low-cost data collection methodologies that some news organizations are using or reporting on to produce news about public opinion.
