Abstract:

Are you thinking about applying for your clinical internship through APPIC? Do you want to secure an internship but are feeling apprehensive about the internship imbalance? Are you ready to start preparing a strong application now but are unsure where to begin?

While the APPIC National Match process has become increasingly competitive with many doctoral students applying for limited internship slots, my experience applying for an internship this past year has given me a more realistic and optimistic view of the process, especially for Michigan students. I am excited to share with you all of the tips I’ve accumulated both from others and from my own experience along the way, from choosing your clinical practicum experiences to completing your APPIC application to ranking your potential internship sites. Whether you’re a first year just starting to weigh the challenges and benefits of applying to APPIC or you’re an advanced student preparing to apply this fall, I hope this insight will help you successfully craft your path toward internship and navigate the application process. This talk will tailor to students’ specific needs and questions in order to be most useful to those in attendance.
