APPLICATION PROCEDURES

If you are considering applying to the Psychology PhD program, you will need to contact the faculty with whom you would like to work, to make sure they are accepting new students in their labs. You can obtain contact information from our Directory. You can also look for faculty who are carrying out research that matches your interests by going to the following website: www.lsa.umich.edu/psych/people/faculty-research/search.asp

The Department of Psychology admits students only once each year for the Fall term; we are currently accepting applications for Fall 2010.  It is now a requirement that all applications be submitted online through Rackham Graduate School's website. When completing the online application, you will be instructed in how to upload your Personal Statement, Statement of Purpose and transcripts. You will also be asked to "Register your Recommenders" so that they will be able to submit their letters of recommendation online.

All who are applying to the Psychology Graduate Program should review the Psychology Department Graduate Application Checklist.

For matriculation in Fall 2010, the deadline for submission of your application is December 1, 2009. Supporting materials (e.g., letters of recommendation, transcripts, GRE scores) can arrive after the December 1st deadline, however, it is highly recommended that applicants have their files complete as close to the deadline as possible. All applicants are notified of admission decisions by April 1.

If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to contact the Psychology Student Academic Affairs Office by email (psych.saa@umich.edu) or phone (734-764-2580).
