Research Summary/Interests

Broadly,  I am interested in beginning teacher motivation and efficacy for work in under-resourced teaching environments. Specifically, I am interested in classroom management experiences during teacher pre-service education and the first two years of teaching that are most effective in contributing to teachers' use of high leverage teaching practices, motivation, and adaptive self-efficacy to affect student outcomes such as achievement, motivation, and self-regulation. Currently, I am completing a project that explores the concept and measurement of teacher self-efficacy within the context of "ambitious teaching" and teaching as a relational practice. I am also interested in teacher language and its relationship to student motivation, responsibility and self-regulation of behavior.
