Research Interests

My research focuses on the role of culture in the mental and physical health of cultural minority populations, with a particular focus on Latino/Hispanic communities. More specifically, I am interested in studying culture-specific conceptualizations of mental and physical illness and its relation to help-seeking, service delivery, patient-practitioner communication and quality of care. I am also interested in studying how, and if, cultural factors influence the psychological and social well-being of ethnic minotrity children and adolescents.
