My research interest is looking at learning context in which adolescents develop their academic and social behaviors. I believe that understanding adolescents’ academic and social context is best served using a multifaceted approach. First, examining teacher practice and classroom climate is important in understanding learning context. Second, peer ecologies are integral part of academic and social context. Third, examining powerful moderating effect of learning context’s influence on adolescents’ adjustment is important.


I plan to focus on research examining interrelations between classroom climate, peer ecology, and features of teachers and students which adds understanding of how multilevel dynamics of classroom contexts can shape developmental trajectories of adolescents
