Research Interests

I am interested in how abstract, complex experience in social domains such as morality and love influence concrete, perceptual experience across the five senses (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching). I study metaphors, embodiment, and unconscious processes. I examine how lay beliefs and lay theories, provided by culture and varying in interesting ways across cultures, play a causal role in these themes.

I am also often intrigued by how small things in our day-to-day experience can make a big difference to our judgments, decisions, motives, desires, and behaviors.
