Research and Teaching Interests
Animal and human neuroethological studies.
  • Focus 1: Neural ensemble recordings in rodents to understand the mechanisms of intermittency (voluntary starts and stops) in rhythmic masticatory or locomotor behavior.
  • Focus 2: Mechanisms of angiotensin- and dopamine-induced rhythmic jaw movements in anesthetized animals.
  • Focus 3: Relationship between nocturnal parafunction (tooth grinding or bruxism) and cardiovascular disease in humans.
