Research and Teaching Interests
My clinical and research interests relate to family functioning and child adjustment, particularly in the face of challenges like adoption, physical illness, and poverty. Current clinical involvements include development and implementation of: 1) a mental health consultation program to Head Start; 2) a relationship-focused psychoeducational program for aphasic adults and their families; and 3) psychoeducational parenting groups for adoptive parents and for parents of children who are temperamentally-challenging. Research interests include outcome evaluation of these various intervention efforts and identification of family factors predictive of successful adjustment.
