Research and Teaching Interests

Sara McClelland is Assistant Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Her work focuses on adolescent sexual development, sexual health, and research design. In her work over the last few years, she’s examined public policies concerning sex education in schools, reproductive rights for minors, and issues concerning the development of sexual identities, behaviors, expectations in young adults. In two on-going studies, Dr. McClelland is examining how adolescent women early in life develop expectations for their sexual lives, and in a second study, how women with metastatic breast cancer imagine and experience their sexual health at the end of life. More information about ongoing research can be found on her lab’s website: ProgressLab.info.
