2003 HONORS RESEARCH PROGRAM EVENTS

Graduates in the Honors Research Program gathered on April 11, 2003 to share the results of their projects and to celebrate their accomplishments. These students are concentrators in Psychology or in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science who write a senior thesis based on a year of research in collaboration with a faculty mentor. Forty-three students completed our honors concentration program, comprising a significant portion of the approximately 250 students graduating with Honors within the College of LS&A this year.

Honors Poster Session

Students presented their research during a poster session on the 4th floor Atrium of East Hall. The research topics represented (listed below the photos) were quite varied, including psychological studies of behavior in cells, rats, sheep, undergraduates, children, parents, peers, organizations, political units and cultures. Typically, students worked for two academic terms to plan their study, collect and analyze data, and write a professional report on the results. Program participants worked closely with their faculty mentors to conduct original, state-of-the-art research. Their theses contribute new knowledge to our understanding of psychology.
