Community Engagement Co-Planners

What happens AFTER the Race exhibit leaves? The Community Engagement Co-Planners is an open community-based group of volunteers that exists to ensure that the community component of the Understanding Race Project will continue to promote racial justice, by addressing, in perpetuity, the issue of racism within each of the following eight major systems through which it operates:

  • Housing
  • Economics / Wealth
  • Judiciary / Law Enforcement
  • Health Care
  • Education
  • Politics
  • Culture
  • Transportation

On four levels:

  • Personal / Interpersonal
  • Cultural
  • Micro Institutional (local government, local organizations, schools, etc.)
  • Macro Institutional (state and national government, etc.)

The Community Engagement Co-Planners are organizing a Racial Justice Facilitators Training Workshop in January to help prepare experienced facilitators in the community to lead group discussions after visits to the Race exhibit.
