Make a Donation in support of the RC 40th Anniversary Year Campaign
No amount is too small (or too large).
The RC has many needs, large and small, and we have relied on donations of all sorts from alumni and friends to support a unique pedagogy that challenges our students to learn by doing and to engage their education proactively. In marking its 40th Anniversary this year, the RC is focusing its fund-raising appeal on two critical areas of this venerable living-learning community:
1) Sustained engagement in the creative arts has always been central to an RC education and to the life of the community. This is the “artful difference” that pushes students to do creative work and show the results. Yet the physical facilities for the visual and performing arts – in particular the theater-auditorium and the four art studios – are in dire need of physical renewal. In this anniversary year, we seek to raise $2 million to secure these anchors for the creative arts in East Quad.
2) Putting our students in the world so they can pursue their education outside the classroom has long been a vital part of the RC curriculum and a vehicle for the education of citizens. This is the “active difference” that takes students abroad or into the surrounding communities, from Detroit to Dakar. Without sufficient funds to underwrite student action, we cannot sustain the engagement that we demand of our students. We aim in this anniversary year to build an endowment of $1 million in order to secure the funds we need every year to put our students in the world for many years to come.
These are the goals for the year. We have already received a generous donation from Janet and Kenneth Keene of $1 million towards the renovation of the theater-auditorium.
We also received a gift of $100,000 from Don and June Brown that anchored the endowment, and propelled us to the half-million mark for this fund that provides need-based support for student engagement.
We are on our way. But there is still much to be done – and we need all the help you can offer – big gifts, little gifts, and pledges.
Every dollar given either to the renovation of arts facilities in East Quad or towards putting our students in the world will help insure for the RC forty more years of distinguished achievement in liberal arts education.
Two funds will earmark money for specific RC programs:
The Studio Arts Construction Fund (#801269) will help renovate our theater and studio arts spaces.
The Donald & June Brown Endowment Fund (#571620) will help put RC students in the world.
If you wish your donation to provide more general support to the RC, designate the RC General Gift Fund.
