Michelle McClellan, Assistant Professor, is a historian whose teaching and research engage with issues of place and memory as well as with the social implications of scientific knowledge, especially regarding addiction.  She has published on the history of alcoholic women, writing articles and books for academic historians and also for clinicians and policy makers. Currently, Michelle is writing a book on heritage tourism associated with the “Little House” books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Michelle’s courses in the RC include “Hooked,” an interdisciplinary approach to addiction; and “History Goes Green,” which examines the ways in which historical practices and values can inform sustainability efforts today.
