We would like to ask your help in changing the way we process proposals for internal funding. Currently proposals that are due to the internal funding offices often come in to the Research Office for signature late on the day that they are due. This means that we have little or no time to review them before signing. In order to better serve the faculty, we will require that proposals be in our office five working days before the relevant deadline (we already require a four day lead time for external proposal review). This will leave enough time to adequately review the proposal and time to make changes if needed. Please pass this information on to your faculty. We know that this is short notice for this April 15th OVPR deadline, so we will understand if your faculty can't make it within the "five day rule" this round (2006 e-mail).
