Below are the texbook list updated for Fall 2008 . Textbooks with an ** are recommended but not required. The textbooks used for many of our language classes are customized specifically for the University of Michigan.  Instrcutors may have added workbook pages and/or other materials that regular versions of the textbook will not have.  Instructors who teach these language classes want their students to use the version of the textbook designed for the University of Michigan, which can be found at area bookstores throughout Ann Arbor.

* Italian 231 students are also required to have a copy of the Taped Exercises for Basic and Intermediate Italian, which they should already have from taking Italian 101 or 103. A few students may start in 231, so we ask that the bookstores keep a small supply of these tapes (20-25 copies) for students who need to purchase them separately for this course.
