Interests and Current Work
The majority of my formal training is in French Literature and although
I continue to pursue this area of study, my current passion is seeking
a practical application for our graduates in French. Although many
will go on to teach French, a large number aim to work in the private
sector, hopefully using their foreign language skills. With a view
to preparing students for such a career, the Business French sequence
offers Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Business French (the latter
taught in conjunction with the Ross School of Business). Taking this
line of study one step further, I have developed a summer internship
for credit class that places students in 6-12 week internship positions
in Francophone countries. In 2002, 2003 and 2004 between 10-15 students
worked in either: France, Belgium, Quebec or Morocco to earn UM credit.
