Contemporary Latin American Literature, Film, and Cultural/Critical Theory (Deconstruction, Subaltern Studies, Postcolonial Theory, Cultural Studies) Interests and Current Work I am the author of The Other Side of the Popular: Neoliberalism and Subalternity in Latin America (Duke University Press, 2002) as well as of a number of articles dealing with critical issues such as Latin American cultural/subaltern studies; populism, cultural hybridity, and consumption; neoliberalism, literature, and violence in the Andes; postdictatorship and literature in Chile and Argentina; Central American testimonio, etc. I am currently writing a book on biopolitics and sovereignty in contemporary Latin American literature.
