Visit the graduate student journal! Tiresias is an on-line publication of academic and creative work run by graduate students of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan. They welcome submissions in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan and Galician in the form of scholarly analysis, reviews, creative writing, and visual art. Tiresias encourages interdisciplinary submissions including (but not limited to) cultural studies, literature, anthropology, sociology, psychology, history, philosophy, art history, film, and political
science. Graduate students, faculty, independent scholars, and
activists are invited to contribute. For more infromation regarding the

Below we have listed a sampling of the organizations and activities in which our own RLL graduate students participate. Also, the main UM*Events calendar is a terrific resource for discovering the many offerings the university hosts campus-wide.

Romance Languages Graduate Student Association (RLGSA)
RLGSA represents the needs and interests of RLL graduate students through professional workshops and social gatherings throughout the year. A popular offering of the group is the Thought Shop series, where students meet to talk about their research and issues pertaining to graduate student life.

Charles F. Fraker
This annual Spring conference is organized by RLL graduate students in honor of Professor Emeritus of Spanish Charles Fraker. Originally a venue for graduate students of Hispanic studies to meet and discuss the subjects of their research, the conference has grown to include the work of students of other Romance languages and literatures as well. Past conferences have attracted students from such universities as Yale, Tulane, Cleveland State, Western Michigan, Brigham Young, and Western Ontario.
