Rackham Approved Candidates-Fall 2012

RLL is very pleased to announce approved candidacy for the following RLL graduate students of Spanish:
Rodrigo Toromoreno. His dissertation topic is a study of seventeenth-century expeditions and cultures along the Amazon River and the ways they manifest alterations to seemingly straightforward concepts regarding the colonial world and its shape.
Elizabeth Barrios. Her dissertation topic deals with issues relating to temporality, space, and politics with a focus on Venezuelan literature, cinema and historical re-enactment.
Anna Mester. Her dissertation topic is on cultural productions from/on colonial prisons and concentration camps in Portuguese and Spanish-speaking Africa and the writing of the histories of these spaces through acts of commemoration or preservation in the Post-colonial era.
