Study Abroad and Your U-M Degree
New Students:
Even though you are just beginning your Michigan degree program,
it is never too early to start thinking about the possibility
of study abroad. The University encourages study abroad as an
integral part of the undergraduate experience. With careful, early
planning, most students can easily fit overseas study into their
college years without delay of graduation, and OIP staff are committed
to helping them find the most suitable programs.
The University of Michigan offers a multitude of options to earn
credit towards your LS&A degree while studying in a foreign
country for a summer half-term, fall or winter semester, or even
a whole academic year, not to mention various shorter-term possibilities.
For information about these various opportunities, please explore
the website of the Office of International Programs (OIP,) at

Continuing Students:
Still looking for the right program for the 2006-07 academic
year? It may not be too late to apply to a non-UM program. You
can search the web for programs at www.iiepassport.org.
The search engine allows you to specify any number of features,
such as location, language of instruction, duration, and so on.
The UM International Center’s Overseas Opportunities Office
also has an excellent web resource for non-UM study abroad at
