Credits: (2). Course Homepage: No homepage submitted. Practicum students develop writing skills that allow them to take full advantage of their experiences in Michigan courses. Students will gain practice and experience in (1) writing as a process of drafting and revising, (2) reading and writing analytically, (3) developing a writer's voice, which includes distinguishing between their ideas and those of others, (4) studying models of writing of the kind they are expected to produce, (5) using the computer to draft and revise papers and to talk about writing, and (6) attending to grammar and mechanics. Classes meet two hours per week. Each student receives an additional half-hour of individual instruction every other week in a conference with the instructor. Many sections are taught in a computer-equipped classroom, which offers students the opportunity to use computers for research as well as writing.
