Re: Contents of Envelope Information Package

Congratulations, and welcome to Michigan and the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts!

In this envelope you should have received, in addition to this memo:

  • a letter of welcome from Professor Robert Owen, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education;
  • an Academic Planning Questionnaire (orange sheet), LS&A Interest Inventory (yellow sheet), and postage paid return envelope from the LS&A Academic Advising Center, to be filled out and returned as soon as possible and preferably ten days before your Orientation session;
  • a brochure on the First-Year Seminar Program;
  • a First Year Handbook, 2002-03 and a Fall Term 2002 First-Year Course Guide. You will want
    to peruse these booklets before attending Orientation. The more you are familiar with the information in there booklets the smoother your time at Orientation should go. Please bring them with you when you come to Orientation.

Please let us know if any of these items is missing from your packet. Call 734.764.6810 to request any missing item.

The First Year Handbook, 2002-03; the Fall Term 2002 First-Year Course Guide; and the 2002-03 LS&A Bulletin (college catalog, which you will receive from your academic advisor at Orientation) are on the Web (http://lsa,umich.edu/saa/). If you are able to access the Web, you can take advantage of much more information useful for succeeding at Orientation and beyond.

The staffs of the various Academic Advising and Student Academic Affairs Offices in the College are looking forward to an exciting Orientation program this year, and we especially look forward to meeting each of you. Best wishes!
