- Experiential course involving campus or area museums. Intended for students in museum-related fields with serious interest in graduate study in museum practice and museum careers. Course content, location and specific requirements determined individually.

- Junior standing, and permission of instructor. (3). (Excl).
- An introduction to the museum's role in collecting, preserving, displaying, and interpreting original works of art. It covers the historical development of private and public collecting in Europe and America and explores the evolution of museums as organizations and buildings. The course focuses on the philosophical issues surrounding their existence and the evolving role of museums in western society.
