The first year of college Portuguese equivalent to Portuguese 101 and 102 taught in one term.

No credit granted to those who have completed or are enrolled in Portuguese 100. (4). (LR).

Port. 150. First Year Seminar in Brazilian Studies.
Only first-year students, including those with sophomore standing, may pre-register for First-Year Seminars. All others need permission of instructor. (3). (HU).
Intensive study of selected topics in Brazilian studies, designed to introduce first-year students to the literature, art, thought, socioeconomic issues, and culture of Brazil.

Independent study in Portuguese language (advanced), or introductory level literature or civilization. Projects may seek to combine language instruction with an initiation to research in civilization or literature. Intended primarily to those students to whom no regular classroom instruction is available.

Spanish 275 and 276. (3). (Excl).
Accelerated Portuguese course providing knowledge of grammatical structure, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Port. 450. Independent Study.
Permission of department. (1-3). (Excl). (INDEPENDENT). May be elected for a total of six credits.
Independent study in Portuguese language (advanced) or literature or civilization. May be elected under conditions by the department Curricular Committee for Portuguese. Subject matter and instructor variable.
Port. 474. Topics in Luso-Brazilian Literature.
A reading knowledge of Portuguese. (3). (Excl). May be repeated for credit.
Study of representative novels, authors, movements, and thematic concerns in Luso-Brazilian literature. Readings in Portuguese. The course is conducted in English.
Port. 489. Directed Readings in Portuguese.

A directed work for qualified students requiring work not regularly offered. Offered only by permission of the department.
