ECB 993. Graduate Student Instructor Training Program.

Prerequisites: Must have GSI award. Graduate standing. (1). The course is graded S/U.

This one-credit course is designed as a hands-on workshop for GSIs concurrently teaching and grading courses which undergraduate students select to satisfy the Upper-Level Writing Requirement. This course is mandatory for SWC-funded GSIs, but may be elected by any other graduate student interested in the course. Topics addressed are advanced writing in the disciplines standards, writing assignment design, responding to students' writing, getting students involved in their writing, revising, conferencing with students, grading, criteria sheets, and English as a Second Language issues.
