362. Intensive Second-Year
Korean. Korean 102 or 361. (10). (Excl).
This course is for those who have completed Beginning Korean or
have an equivalent proficiency in Korean. We will focus on the
fortifying the grammatical structures introduced in the Beginning
Korean by utilizing the grammatical skills combining with expanded
vocabularies and idiomatic expressions. The goal of the course
is, thus, to develop the oral communication, reading and writing
skills altogether, based on a broader communicational environment
enabled by strong grammar and vocabulary ability. Activities, such as classroom drills, skits, and short essay compositions, and materials of audio and video tapes will be used for that purpose.
We assume no knowledge of hanja, the Chinese characters, on students part but they are expected to learn approximately
180 basic characters during the course. Text: A set of course
packs, "Intermediate Korean" and "Workbook", available through Grade A Notes at Ulrich's Bookstore. This course
is part of the Summer Language Institute and runs from June 8
- August 14, 1998. Application is required; if you are interested
please contact the department in 3070 Frieze Building.
