This course seeks to enhance students' understanding of the lives of migrant farmworkers and their families. The subject matter will be approached interactively as students read, discuss and listen to invited speakers during the seminars. Health issues will be an important aspect of the course as well as cultural and community strengths. Students are required to read one book and a course-pack, write weekly reflective papers on readings and class and a final 8-10 page paper. Grades will be based on attendance, participation and papers. Spring half term is followed by an optional summer half practicum. Prerequisites: Some Spanish is required.
