In this course we will be reading three or four of Shakespeare's plays and then going to see them in preformance in Stratford, Ontario. The plays will be A Midsummer's Night's Dream, Macbeth, Richard II, and The Tempest. In addition to learning about the Elizabethan stage and the historical background of the plays themselves, the major emphasis in the course will be analyzing the texts through performance. Students will prepare one monologue and two scenes for the class, and will write a critique of the Stratford production.
