PORTUG 102 is a task and content-based continuation of PORTUG 101. It's designed to expand students' knowledge of the Brazilian language and culture, and develop fluency in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing Portuguese, incorporating grammar in a meaningful and practical use of language through a variety of communicative activities.

Instructional methods include authentic readings, CD-ROMs and videos in Brazilian Portuguese.

Grading is based on attendance, class participation, homework, oral exams, quizzes, a cultural project, two partial tests, and a final examination.

Students completing the course will be able to hold spontaneous conversations on everyday topics, understand the gist of one-way communications, read for practical information, and write simple compositions on familiar topics.
