English Composition Board (Division 360)

The prerequisite for an ECB Writing Tutorial course is "ECB assessment with tutorial placement." After the writing assessment is administered during Orientation, the ECB notifies academic units of their students' placements and academic unit advisors convey this information to their students. Those placed in tutorial must enroll in an ECB course before taking Introductory Composition.

To enroll in an ECB course, students select a section time compatible with their schedules from the LSA Time Schedule, from updated course lists at department advising offices, or from the schedule listing outside LSA advising, 1213 Angell Hall. Students then proceed to CRISP for registration.

In Winter 1982, ECB 102 will be offered Jan. 6-Feb. 19; ECB 103 from Mar. 1-April 20; and ECB 108 from Jan. 6-Feb. 19. To maintain their class place, registered students must either attend the first class meeting or notify the ECB (in writing) of intended absence prior to the first day of classes.

Students no longer need to obtain overrides from the ECB office for ECB tutorials before proceeding to registration. Students are welcome to visit the ECB office at 1025 Angell Hall for information about their writing assessment or for course scheduling.

See the introduction to this Course Guide for information about the ECB Junior-Senior Writing Requirement and for a list of approved courses.
