This course is the second of a two term biophysical chemistry series, Biophysics 520/521. The course can be taken without taking Biophysics 520. Biophysics 521 gives an overview of the spectroscopical techniques UV/Vis, IR, Raman, CD Mossbauer, Exafs, EPR and ESEEM. Structure determination by X-ray diffraction and two-dimensional will be treated in fair detail. Stopped-flow kinetics techniques are introduced. Electron, light and scanning microscopies and optical tweezers will be introduced. Ultracentrifugation, plasmon, resonance, mass spectrometry and calorimetry will be discussed.
