Integrated Premedical-Medical Program (Inteflex)

(September 26, 1975)
(Revised: June 1992)

Appeal of grades in Inteflex courses for which administrative responsibility is assigned to a department will be handled through the appeal mechanism of that department.

Courses administered through the program office:

Inteflex 101 (Freshman Seminar), Ifx Med 210 (Introduction to Patient Care), Inteflex 201/Psychology 314 (Nature of Illness: The Individual), Inteflex 301/Ifx Med 301 (The Nature of Illness: Social, Economic, and Political Perspectives), Ifx Med 401 (Human Sexuality), Ifx Med 660 (Introductory Clerkship), will be handled by the following policy:

  1. The student should, within two weeks of receiving the grade, meet with the instructor in the course and attempt to resolve any disagreement.
  2. If the student is dissatisfied with the results of this meeting the student should submit, within two weeks, a written request for an examination of the grade to the Inteflex Program Director. This request should clearly explain the grounds for the belief that the grade is unfair and the specific change that is requested.
  3. The Program Director will attempt to mediate the dispute and reach a mutually acceptable solution.
  4. If this mediation is unsuccessful the Program Director will refer this request to an ad hoc committee which will review the request and render a decision. This committee will be chaired by the Program Director with membership being the Co-Director, the four faculty representatives to the Policy Committee, and the two student representatives on the Policy Committee.
  5. This Committee will review the student's written request, meet with the student and instructor, as appropriate, and render a decision.
  6. The Program Director will notify the student and the instructor in writing of the committee's decision. There will be no further appeal at the program level of this Committee's decision.
