Art of Film
Prof. Hugh Cohen

Lectures and demonstrations isolate the different elements and techniques (film stock, lighting, camera placement and movement, actors, special effects, sound, and editing) that the director and crew utilize in filmmaking to shape the viewer's response. Some historical developments, artistic and technological, are discussed. Recitation sections analyze and interpret significant films.

Major Duties and hourly work expectation per week:
Attend lecture, prepare for and teach two discussion sections, evaluate student work, and hold one office hour per week for each section.

Critical skills and experience:
Knowledge of film, ability to effectively teach and evaluate undergraduate students.
