Professor Lisa Nakamura comes the University of Michigan from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, where she was the Director of the Asian American Studies Department. She is the author of two books on race and digital media, Cybertypes: Race, Ethnicity, and Identity on the Internet (Routledge, 2002) and Digitizing Race: Visual Cultures of the Internet (Minnesota, 2008). Digitizing Race won the Asian American Studies Association book award in Cultural Studies in 2010. She is the co-editor of Race in Cyberspace (2000) and Race After the Internet (Routledge, 2011). She is working on a new monograph on digital labor, race, and production cultures of the Internet.
