The Trueblood Fellowship Award

Awards up to $750.00

In 1921, students of Professor Thomas Trueblood, Chairman of the Department of Public Speaking at the University of Michigan, honored him by establishing the Trueblood Fund. Today, the Trueblood Fellowship is open to students majoring in Screen Arts & Cultures. In keeping with the original intent of the Trueblood Fund, it is used to support students - both undergraduate and graduate - involved in the performance aspects of film, television, or video art. Annual awards of up to $750.00 will be awarded in the Winter Semester. Qualified students who wish to compete for the Trueblood Award(s) should submit the following:

(a) A completed Application Form including the name and phone number of one faculty reference in the Department of Screen Arts & Cultures with whom you have worked.
(b) A two-page (typewritten) Personal Essay which highlights educational/ professional interests and accomplishments commensurate with the Trueblood Fellowship's support for excellence in performance or the directing of performance.
(c) Two examples of directing or performance on VHS videotape. A Sample Description Page MUST accompany the sample work. (see the attached Award Guidelines)

Note: The committee may elect not to award the scholarships if no suitable applications are submitted.
