Terry Lawson has been teaching F&V 310, an introductory screenplay
writing class, since 1999 at U-M. He formerly taught film history
and criticism at the University of Dayton and Wright State University.
A film critic for more than 25 years, he has worked at the Detroit
Free Press since 1996. He has been nominated multiple times for
the Pulitzer Prize in criticism, and was a finalist in 1994. He
has won numerous awards for his criticism, feature writing and opinion
columns, and was named best columnist by the American Society of
Features editors in 1996. His work has appeared in dozens of newspapers
and magazines, including Premiere, American Film, and Esquire. He
has sold 3 screenplays, one of which was produced.
