Elaine Loeser is a television writer who has written for network
television, including the long-running Law & Order. She is a
lawyer who practiced corporate and securities law for a number of
years in Washington, D.C, Chicago, IL, and Los Angeles, CA. She
has written plays that have had readings in Chicago and a production
in New York City, was an originating member of the Pasadena Playwrights,
and was selected as a member of the Padua Hills Playwrights Workshop
Festival in Los Angeles, under the direction of Irene Fornes, John
Steppling and David Henry Hwang. She has studied journalism at the
University of Illinois and creative writing at Northwestern University
under the noted authors Stewart Kaminsky and Florence Chanuk Cohen.
She is a member of the Writers Guild of America, west, and has attended
the noted Humanitas lecture series in Los Angeles, featuring award-winning
writers in film and television. She has been teaching television
writing at the University of Michigan for years.
