James Gindin Visiting
Artists Series
The James Gindin Visiting Artists Series
is named in memory of the popular late U-M professor of English
and acclaimed scholar of 19th century British literature and
modern fiction. It provides the financial resources to bring
eminent screenwriters to the Ann Arbor campus to conduct hands-on
seminars and critiques of student screenplays. Screenwriting
Coordinator James Burnstein said "For a talented young
screenwriter, does life get any better than chewing your ideas
over lunch at Ann Arbor's Zingerman's Deli with the likes
of Nora Ephron, Christopher McQuarrie or Joe Stillman or a
private master class with Kurt Luedtke? The great thing about
our Gindin Visiting Artists is that the star screenwriters
will not only freely discuss their own work, they are happy
to discuss the students' work as well." The James Gindin
Visiting Artists series was established by a gift from Robert Shaye
and the Four Friends Foundation.
