Screenwriting Outreach
An important part of the U-M interdisciplinary project between the Departments of Screen Arts & Cultures, Theatre & Drama, and English Language and Literature was the Festival of New Works' outreach program, which involves a significant number
of high school students with a keen interest in writing
and acting. The high school students travel into the University
of Michigan from near and outlying areas of Michigan to
participate in the Festival.
After six years and due to lack of funding, the Festival and its Outreach program was eliminated. Screen Arts & Cultures is very interested in continuing outreach events in the area of screenwriting. If you are an interested educator who would like your students
to participate in a Screen Arts & Cultures screenwriting outreach event,
please contact the Screen Arts & Cultures Program Coordinator Mary
Lou Chlipala at (734) 763-4087 or email her at
mlouisa@umich.edu.
