The Leo Burnett Foundation Grants Program

Funded by the Leo Burnett Foundation, this grants-program offers support to a student who shows an expressed interest in communications media and how they function in a market economy. A grant is given to research and production projects that explore and illuminate the role of film or television in a market economy. Projects might include: exploring film and television as a business; the role and function of marketing in the film industry; the role and function of advertising in television and in the culture, media marketing strategies ( for example: expenses associated with the promotion and marketing of a production project), and the art and technique of the television commercial.

To compete for a Leo Burnett Foundation Grant please submit the following:
(a) A completed online application form including the name and email of ONE faculty reference in the Department of Screen Arts & Cultures.

(b) For academic projects: upload a one-page proposal describing the research or project.  For production projects: upload a one-page treatment of a new project or of a work-in-progress, and the script, if available. For screenwriting applicants: a one-page treatment. (For details, see Guidelines for Applying for Awards & Endowments.)
(c) A budget detailing the proposed or actual expenses. (See guidelines and sample budget).
(d) For production applicants: upload two work samples, and NO MORE than two, of past film, video or digital work. (If you are seeking funds for a work-in-progress you may submit evidence of work completed at the time of the application as one of your samples.) For research proposals see (c) above.

The committee may elect not to give an award if no suitable applications are submitted.
