The employment fraction for each of these positions is .50. GSI duties will include, but not limited to:
• Leading discussions
• Grading Papers and/or Writing Assignments
• Holding regular office hours
• Meeting regularly with the course instructor
• Attending required lectures and/or films

The selection criteria include, but not limited to:
• If hired for an ULWR course, complete SWC 993 (Writing in the Disciplines) a one-credit course that meets for two hours a week for seven weeks. This course is designed to help GSIs develop the expertise and confidence needed to teach writing well.
• If hired for Russian 202, oral, written, and cultural competence in the Russian language. Language proficiency is expected to be at the advanced level according to the ACTFL guidelines.
• Prior GSI experience with favorable student evaluations
• Relevant academic preparation for teaching the course material
• Overall academic performance and progress toward the degree
• Relevance to graduate training
• Ability to work with diverse student body and with very diverse assignments (historical, literary, film theoretical, stylistic)
• Strong preference will be given to applicants who are full-time students in a UM graduate-level degree program

Selection Process:
• The Faculty Instructor will make selection based upon the above criteria.
