These explanations were written by Dr. Zdenka Brodská to accompany her First- and Second-Year Czech courses. They will guide you through the basics of Czech grammar. You can navigate through them in two ways: either follow the order of her classes (see Contents by Class), or look for the grammar topics that interest you (see Contents by Topic). Before you begin, you may want to read through Parts of a Word and Parts of Speech. These brief pages will familiarize you with some general terms and help you understand the explanations you're about to read. As you read through the pages, you'll come across other terms that are linked to the Glossary. (You could read the Glossary, too, but it may be more useful to wait until you see these terms in context.)
