Though name days are celebrated in Poland more often than birthdays, there are still some well-known traditions associated with birthday celebrations. Unlike in the United States, the person celebrating their birthday is often the one who will invite family or friends for the birthday feast.

The traditional song for birthdays, as well as for weddings and anniversaries is Sto Lat! Today, there are several contemporary versions that Poles sing. The text to some of these versions is provided below. Refer to the glossary at the bottom of this page to help you better understand the songs.
