Game 3: Go fish! Click here for Note to Instructors
Practicing Accusative Case and Genitive of Negation
Developed by E. Małachowska-Pasek, E. Wampuszyc
Art work by N. Rosic

Playing Instructions:

Wersja łatwa:

  • Each player receives 5 cards. Place the remaining cards in the middle of the playing area.
  • The goal of the game is to find pairs of cards and be the first to use up all the cards in your hand.
  • Order of play is clockwise.
  • Ask the person to your left if they have one of the cards you need. For example, you have a picture of a window. Ask "Czy masz okno?"
If instead of a picture you have an English word, use the Polish equivalent of this word. For example, you have the word "friend (female) ". Ask: "Czy masz
    przyjaciółkę?"
  • If the response is "Tak, mam okno." or "Tak, mam przyjaciółkę.", that person gives you the card and you put down a pair.
  • If the response is "Nie. Nie mam okna." / "Nie, nie mam przyjaciółki.", then you take one card from the "pond."
  • If you make a grammar error, take an additional card from the "pond."

Wersja utrudniona:

  • Follow the above directions. When asking your questions, add an adjective to your sentence. (For example, "Czy masz duże okno?" / "Czy masz dobrą przyjaciółkę?")
  • If the player to your left has the requested card, he/she must answer "Tak, mam duże okno." / "Tak, mam dobrą przyjaciółkę?". If not, he/she must answer "Nie, nie mam dużego okna." / "Nie, nie mam dobrej przyjaciółki."
  • If anyone forgets to use an adjective or makes a grammatical error, he/she must draw a card from the "pond".
